Venue:
Footscray Canoe Club, Farnsworth Ave, corner Maribyrnong Blvd, Footscray

Course:
One & 1/4 laps of the Maribyrnong River between Dynon Rd and Canning St. Flatwater, no snags, no eddies. Cycle track follows entire course.

Start/Finish:
Footscray Canoe Club

Distance:
All Open, all Relay Teams, Mens V40, and Mixed V40 — 28km
Womens V40, Womens V50, Mens V50, Mixed V50, and all U18 — 22km
All V60, all U16 and U14 — 10km
Sub Juniors (U12) — 3km

Age is as of 31 Dec 11

Classes:
All canoes/kayaks catered for

Checkpoints:
There is one check point at Canning St and two at the start/finish line

Token Drop:
To simulate food drops, non-relay competitors in the 28km and 22km events must collect a token from their ground crew at a specified checkpoint
If you can’t bring along ground crew (a common problem!) try asking a friendly spectator
Competitors will be penalized 5min if they do not have their token with them at the finish line

Relay Teams:
Relay teams must consist of at least 2 crews
Relay teams must change at each checkpoint, within 150m of the checkpoint
No crew can paddle consecutive legs
Relay teams are responsible for their own transport to/from the top turn checkpoint
All paddlers are to pay the full entry fee

For Safety:
All craft must carry one personal flotation device (PFD) per paddler at all times. Paddlers under 16 must wear their PFD at all times
All craft must have positive buoyancy, that means if it fills with water it will remain afloat
Craft will be inspected by race officials prior to entering the pontoon area, to confirm conformance to the above
All paddlers must stop and offer assistance to a fellow competitor if they are in need. Times will be adjusted appropriately
Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from the race

Entry Fee (online):
Australian Canoeing (AC) Members: Seniors $15 / Juniors $10
All others: Seniors $25 / Juniors $15

How to Enter:
Enter online & pay on the day

For crews/teams of more than one paddler: 
One entry per craft
The crew must nominate a Captain, who is reponsible for entering everyone online and paying on the day
It helps if you have your teams Australian Canoeing numbers (if applicable)
Individual entries and and payments will not be accepted

School Teams. Do not enter online. Your school’s kayaking coordinator is to enter for you

Payment:
Pay and pickup your race number at the pre-registered desk
Opens: 9.00am; Closes: 10.15am
Changes accepted as per late entries

Late Entries:
Accepted with a $5 late entry fee
Opens: 9.00am
Closes: 10.00am

Briefing:
10.30am

Race Start:
11.00 am
Sub Juniors Start 10:30am

Canteen:
Hot food, drinks & coffee available for full duration and after the race

Facilities:
Ample car parking, hot showers, change room, toilets

YMCA Murray Marathon Canoe Scrutineering:
YMCA will be at the club BEFORE the race for scrutineering of craft
